Sonny Perdue Goes to China

If you live anywhere around Georgia you have probably heard the Governor Perdue recently took a trip to China. The trip was described as a method to generate additional business and commerce for Georgia. Now while I’m not doubting this is the reason for his visit, I do have a few questions. Recently the Governor reduced his estimates for revenue in Georgia and as a result cut the budgets of quite a few State Agencies mid year and put a moratorium on travel by State Employees. I guess these same rules do not apply to everyone. Another item I thought was strange was that he remarked he was traveling to China in an effort to create more jobs for Georgians while currently he has tasked GTA with the task for working to remove Georgians from State jobs through the GTA Outsourcing project. It has been stated that GTA is an agency that is not efficient and not functioning properly. I can agree with that statement without reservation, but what I can’t buy is that all these people who will lose their jobs in all the various agencies are also not efficient. Just because GTA can’t do their job does not mean other people can’t. We need to make up our mind here. do we want to create jobs for Georgia or move them to other states? If you look at the actions of Sonny where he has been working to cut jobs, cut education, and the many other worthwhile programs he has cut since being Governor, it makes me wonder if this China trip is really to help Georgia or whether its just a vacation  on the taxpayer’s dime for the Governor and his high powered friends. You guys can decide for yourself.
