John Mccain has suspended his presidential campaign today. The reason for the campaign suspension is that Mccain plans to return to Washington to help propose plans to help with the economy bailout. He has asked Obama to agree to delay the debate, but according to Politico, Obama has denied his request and says the debate should go on as planned.
Personally I think this is a good move not only politically for Mccain but for the country. Mccain is showing presidential ideals by suspending his campaign. He shows that at the end of the day being president of the United States is actually about doing a little work and not just campaigning for the job. This is also true of Senators. Seems to me that Obama has not really did any real work as a Senator since he has been U.S. Senator. Almost the entire time since he has been elected he has been running his campaign for president. He has done very little work in the job he was actually elected to perform.
Seems like that is not about to change as Obama seems to want to worry about getting elected more than he wants to worry about the stability of the economy. Kudos to John Mccain for putting country above an election or his party and suspending his campaign to work towards solutions. Obama could learn something from future President Mccain.
Welcome back!
