Saving Money in a Recession
With the recession continuing to loom, many people are looking for ways to cut a few bucks from the budget. This is probably a good idea as saving money comes hard to a lot of people. Of course its hard to save in this world of every one on the move all the time, both spouses working 60 hour weeks just to make ends meet. Regardless of the circumstances there are ways you can still save money on what you spend and put some of that money back for a rainy day. I ran across this article at Frugal Dad and it got me to thinking about how I could save a few dollars around here.
We have definitely cut out the out to eat trips and we have been thinking about ways to cut down on the household expenses. WE have reduced our cable bill. Why would we need every channel under the sun when the vast majority of those 200 channels are never watched. After cutting our cable to the basic plan plus a single movie channel our costs have decreased and we have not missed it at all.
We have also started ensuring we buy gas at the cheapest price available and using our Kroger discounts and Sam’s club when ever we purchase gas. This saves about 10 cents a gallon and can really add up.
One thing I read on the Frugal Dad article was about saving your 5 dollar bills. We only spend five dollar bills as it helps us with spending money. I’m starting to think I should probably also save one of the 5 dollar bills out of 4 or five I spend. I would not miss it that much and those 5 dollar bills could really start to add up. I’ll just need to figure out a plan for saving them.
Welcome back!
