Building lean muscle must be a priority for you as you begin your muscle building venture. It is one thing to want to get big to look good it is another thing to add lean muscle mass. Anybody can get bigger by adding fat but that goes against what we are really trying to accomplish. If you look in the mirror and don’t notice any significant muscular definition then you are training wrong. You must incorporate cardio and proper nutrition to help insure that the weight you are putting on is quality muscle mass and you are losing fat at the same time.

Four things we must understand when we are thinking about how to build muscle mass

Muscle Confusion
Start using heavy weight and less rest to force your muscles to grow. Decrease your rest period to 30 seconds between sets, which will give you just enough time to recover to start another set. This rest cycling is a good way to keep you muscles guessing and forcing them to adapt and get bigger. Utilizing this type of confusion training burns extra calories and increases your overall lean muscle mass.

Strength Training
Strength training along with some clearly defined goals is a critical part of building lean muscle mass. This strength training routine must also include a fat burning program designed to bring out your muscular detail. Strength training begins by accepting the premise that you must workout the larger muscle groups. Increasing your core strength is the goal of strength training and building lean muscle mass. It is essential to work out the Legs, Back and Chest muscles by using compound exercises that target a big area and not only an individual muscle group.
The increase in lean muscle mass will be felt long after the workout is done by including these compound strength building exercises, which help to bring about an anabolic response from within. It really is all about gaining strength and using a great strength training routine to take you to the next level.

Cardio Training
If you neglect your cardio workout: ie: treadmill, walking, stationary bike etc you are missing out on the added benefits that cardio training will add to your goals of building lean muscle mass. Cardio can be boring and at times seem a waste of time but if you are going to have the stamina and endurance to complete your workouts it must be included. It would be hard to see all that new lean muscle mass if it were hidden behind a layer of fat. Make your new muscles stand out by losing that layer of fat hiding it. Begin your cardio training today!

Nutrition And Protein
To build lean muscle mass you must eat the right foods and get the correct amount of protein if you are to reach your goals. Protein is a major source of body building nutrition that must be consumed everyday and in the right amounts because your body can only assimilate a certain amount of protein at any one sitting. The rule of thumb is to take in approximately 1 gram of protein for each pound of lean muscle mass. Beginning weight lifters can use the older method of calculating protein intake by using one gram of protein per one pound of total body weight. Once you become more experienced then you will want to tweak your intake by consuming protein based on your lean muscle mass.

Keeping these four things in mind, muscle confusion, strength training, cardio and nutrition you will be well on your way to building a lean muscular body.

Start to increase muscle size today or keep complaining about the way you look. It is up to you how you look and feel.
