Home Flooring Choices

If your flooring is getty tatty the time has come to make the choice on whether to replace it. That decision will depend on the room you are flooring. If it is only a small area you will find there are much greater inexpensive options available as you can buy last of stocks or end of line products. Generally wet areas such as the kitchen or bathroom require a durable material and there are a lot of options available now without breaking the budget.

Amtico floor tiles are a superior quality resin compounded flooring product. These tiles are non-porous, long lasting with exeptional colour fastness enabling the tiles to retain excellent visual appeal for many years after installation. But let us look at why floor tiles are a perfectly good alternative.

For the wet or kitchen areas there are two popular choices in the lower budget categories, these are laminate flooring and vinyl flooring. The main differences is that laminate tends to be thicker and give a more realistic wood effect without the cost of real wood.

There is of course vinyl that has a wood look as well. In fact there are so many colour and pattern options you will be amazed. Go for a symetrical pattern such as a chessboard effect or go for completely different and contrasting tiles in rooms such as your kitchen, bathroom, WC or laundry room. Many years ago, vinyl tended to come with no more than one or two colour options, but not today. Flooring products have improved greatly over the last decade or so along with the colour, style, finish and cost options available.

First you need to consider what you can afford and laminate or vinyl tiles are very desireable yet low cost options. Laminate is generally the least expensive choice. However, you can also find vinyl at comparable prices with a wide range of styles to suit your floor space.

We would all love to use real marble or real wood on our floors but the cost can make that option an impossibility. Fortunately there are a great many flooring tiles available that give the same appearance and cost significantly less. There is no comparison in quality but the finished results can be impressive to say the least.

There is always the option of having real wood floors or even marble tiles but it’s all about getting the right look for your home and the overall cost.

Laminate and vinyl flooring have other benefits in that they are very easy to clean and no polishing required as with real wood. All you need is your mop and bucket.

Vinyl often comes in large sheets as well as tiles so you can choose the look that suits your specific area of the house. There are many colour and finish options in vinyl, laminate and resin compound tiles that it might take a long time choosing which colour would look best.

If you want to re-floor a small area look out for sales at local suppliers. They will often have a clearance sale for products they have over-stocked on or those that are ‘end of range’. You can often pick up excellent bargains on high quality floor tiles this way. Be careful if you want to cover a particularly large area of floor as they may not always have the exact amount required.

Whatever you choose, make sure you take the time to check out what is on offer and as above, make sure you search out specials! Especially for smaller areas of your house like perhaps the bathroom and toilet areas. There are so many good deals to be had and so many choices to be made.

Welcome back!

There is a great laminate brand out there called, Quick-Step Laminate Flooring. Their gorgeous looks are hard to tell the difference from real hardwood. I was very surprised! They have a website at http://us.quick-step.com. You can also find a retailer that carry this brand in your area using the retailer locator tool. You must check them out if you are shopping for laminate flooring!
