American Spectator – Hope against hope

The American Spectator has an interesting post, Hope Against Hope talking about the trend that some people on the Right and Left both fully expect Barak Obama to be the next president. Robert McCain of the American Spectator says this is necessaries the case and Obama is not destined to win and he shows polls to prove it. Well that is if you believe there is any merit at all in the poll numbers released today.
I for one have consigned myself to the distinct possibility that Obama will take the general election in November even though I don’t really want him to win. The truth is I don’t really want McCain to win either. Neither of these candidates really demonstrate the leadership this country needs to help move us out of these troubled times. We have a major energy crisis in this country with the cost of fuel rising every day and the FDIC recently adding banks to its list of potentially troubled banks which could very eaisly fail and create a depression in our economy that has not been seen since the 1920s.
What we really need right now is a Franklin Roosevelt type leader, but there is not a sign of one of those around. The days of leaders like FDR seem to be gone from the American political scene. We either hire idiots such as George W. Bush to be our voice or we look to inexperienced candidates such as Obama. The only real talent that Barak Obama has is his ability to give a great speech. Of course if you take the teleprompter away from him and he needs to wing it without the help of his speech writers and advisors then he does not perform as well and sometimes it appears if there is some type of electrical short between his brain and his mouth.
If you look at McCain he is not much better while he does have a lot more experience in matters of Government administration than Obama does, he is also not much of a leader. He flipflops on issues almost as much as Obama and like Obama he suffers from an abundance of lack of original ideas. He can’t seem to think properly either.
We need a president who exhibits some leadership and you can always tell the quality of a leader by the ideas he puts forth to solve the issues at hand. So far neither of these candidates have said or did anything to make me believe they have a clue how to solve our issues. If they do manage to get someone on their cabinet who may have the answers, then it won’t help as neither has the resolve to actually see something through.
Regardless we are all screwed. I’m not sure I agree with Bill Orielly or Robert McCain or this article on the American Spectator that we have a chance of doing anything constructive over the next four years. If we keep the status quo then we will be very lucky. Perhaps next time we will get some better choices for President of the United States.
Welcome back!
