Obama Art

There is this big craze going on in various eBay auctions where it seems Obama art is a big seller. People have reported purchasing the various Obama art such as posters, campaign posters and even graffiti type street art. These are some pieces that really seem to be getting bid up in auctions. Seems like a lot of the young college student supporters of Obama, don’t mind selling him out for a few bucks, perhaps to spend on beer or partying. Of course the entrepreneurs are the ones really making out as they are buying the Obama art from the young college students for 70 to 100 dollars and then flipping some of it for 700 dollars.
Indecision2008 has a story on this phenomena and is the basis for this blog post. I find the post very amusing. One area that I really thought was interesting was the following quote:
Much of the Obama art market is centered on "street art," a graffiti-inspired genre that takes the form of posters, stickers and other works that are meant to be plastered in public spaces. Limited-edition campaign posters that originally sold for as little as $45 are now selling at online auction site eBay Inc. for thousands of dollars, bid up by people assuming that prices will rise even further if Mr. Obama is elected.
Yes, he has his own art market now, just like Jesus and those poker-playing dogs. And talk about wealth creation — people are making mad scratch off this business. Perhaps you can, too!
If you look they are comparing the Obama art craze to that of Jesus. This is the same thing that many Anti-Obama sites have been saying for months that Obama supporters are likened to some type of cult and they are attempting to raise Obama to some type of god like status.
People’s inability to think for themselves just amazes me the older I get. Come on people he is just a candidate and politician. And no he is not any type of different politician. He lies and switches direction based on what ever the poll numbers are saying. He preaches the change the change of the old change of the you must change to the we must all sit around the fire and sing change songs to what ever else. The truth is he is absolutely no different than any other politician since the beginning of time. He lies and tells people what they want to hear and then when he gets elected he is going to forget all those things and only worry about lining his pockets for what ever time he remains elected.
Well I need to get back to my Obama art auctions as I’m going to buy me some Obama art to flip, but I won’t be donating any profit I earn to any campaign. I’m going to be using my money to pay for gas.

an artist/photographer, residing in Lucerne, CA. Since Barack Obama declared his candidacy for the presidency, I have been painting a series of oil portraits of him. These paintings are on my website, and were recently seen by Evolutionary Media Group in Los Angeles, CA. They are sponsoring a special art show at the National Democratic Convention. They asked me if I would display my paintings of Barack Obama at the show, and I agreed. I have been hoping, since my first Obama painting, that someday he would get to see it, and now it looks like that might happen.
