VP Speculation Tom Ridge for Mccain, Hilary Clinton for Obama

Well its the vice president nomination speculation season and there are no shortage of rumors running around. Many people expect Tom Ridge to get the nod as Mccain’s running mate. I’m not sure I’m buying this one. While Tom Ridge is respected in the republican party, I’m not sure Ridge could bring anything new to the Mccain bid for office.

Then there is speculation of Obama’s VP pick. Many expect Obama to pick Hillary, but I don’t think this is going to happen. Of course many say that if he does not pick Hillary then he won’t have a chance of uniting the party. This I agree with he can’t win unless he wins over the Hillary supporters, but I’m not sure he can do that even if he picks Hillary Clinton as his running mate. Plus its fairly certain that Hillary will probably turn him down if he does ask her. While Hillary has not been openly hostile to Obama she is not all that supportive either and its definitely a sure thing that former President Bill Clinton has not put the water under the bridge. Bill Clinton has openly said that Obama used the race card on him and he believes the Obama campaign planned to do it all along.

It would really surprise me if one Obama offered the VP slot to Hillary Clinton and second it would really surprise me if she accepted it. Of course if this happens we will probably never know. Its been rumored that Obama does not plan to have a press conference to announce his VP running mate, but instead will just text the choice to people who sign up to receive the text. Personally I’m not paying for a text message from Obama and I’ll just wait and see it on Fox News.

Now whether Mccain picks Tom Ridge is anybody’s guess. I would say Tom Ridge is a potential vice presidential contender, but I more think Tom Ridge is on the list of potential cabinet members. My guess is Secretary of State. I thinking the possible Mccain VP nominee is Mitt Romney. Romney helps Mccain in a a lot of ways and he is the logical choice from where I’m sitting. The only thing that could upset this was if Hillary Clinton agreed to be Mccain’s running mate. She may just do that to close the door on a possible Obama presidency.
